Looking at how the cinemas promote a film on the internet i discovered that they use small adverts with a graphic image and the release date at the top/side etc. also when it is a big release they have almost like a "theme" in the background. For example http://www.myvue.com/cinemas/index.asp?SessionID=&ci=3

Harry Brown Cinema Screenings:

Odeon appear to be showing the Film in their various cinemas around the country, however I have researched showing times at some of the Odeon branches and they appear to be at unusal times and dates considering the audience the movie is aimed at. For example the large Kingston Odeon is showing the film from Monday to Thursday this week either early in the afternoon or early evening. This may be due to other, more in demand films, taking prime slots.

The Staines VUE is showing similar times to the Kingston Odeon, they are however showing the film at slightly later times.

Downloading 'Harry Brown' illegally/legally

Most sites that I came across to download the movie were not available through the school system, the list of websites below are advertised freely on Google for downloading the movie 'Harry Brown'.

www.TheFilmWall.com
www.rapidshare.com
www.watch-movies-online.tv
www.movieandtvonline.com
www.freeonlinemoviesite.com
www.megaupload.com

As you can see there are quite a lot sites advertising free movie downloads, the only site that I could gain access to was thefilmwall.com which stated at the bottom of the site page that all film downloads were posted by users, making it very likely that the link for the 'Harry Brown' download was illegal, relying on the fact that the movie has only just been released. The owners of the site also stated that any illegal downloads that were found would be removed by them.

2012 – Downloading Online

People are able to download 2012 from all sorts of places, however it can be very risky. Downloading in the first place puts your computer at risk of getting Trojans and viruses. As 2012 is a much anticipated movie with millions of people wanting to watch the movie, it gives computer hackers the chance to give those trying to download illegally viruses.

The video quality when downloading 2012 online will most likely be awful, as the film is only out in the cinema right now and isn’t on DVD. Those who pirated the movie would have had to use a digital camera in the cinema with them, causing many jolts and probable bad sound/video quality.

Downloading the movie is illegal and can lead to the person being fined and prosecuted.

Overall, it is clear that trailers are widely available on the internet, displaying comments and reviews aswell as providing in many cases more than one trailer. It is evident that the majority of trailers are viewed by audiences, however we were able to find that on websites such as Empire Online had institutional comments as well as audience comments.

2012 Trailers

When a new film is released it is highly likely that a trailer will be available to watch in many different forms, so that the audience can get an insight to what the film will be like. These trailers often vary in length from a quick 30 second one to a full trailer which lasts 2-3 minutes.

Cinema- Before a film is released a trailer will normally be shown in the cinema so that the audience are aware the film is being released in the near future. These trailers will normally last 2-3 minutes.

T.V-Often a week before or whilst the film is out in the cinema adverts will show a brief 30 second trailer of the film which will highlight the main points in the film and will give information on the release date and the rating of the film.

The Internet-Trailers are available on a variety of different websites for different lengths of time.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hz86TsGx3fc You tube have dedicated a page on their website showing a sneak peek of one of the scenes from the film
http://www.slashfilm.com/2008/11/12/teaser-trailer-roland-emmerichs-2012/
http://www.msn.com/ Msn will often have pop ups showing brief snip it’s of the trailer and information of the release date.
www.apple.com/trailers/sony/2012/
http://www.apple.com/trailers/sony/2012/
http://www.traileraddict.com/trailer/2012/trailer

Dedicated WebPages-When new films are released to the box office a webpage will sometimes be dedicated to the film giving information on it and often showing the full trailer.

REVIEWS

Film 2009 with Jonathan Ross (www.bbc.co.uk)

There is the review of the film that has interviews with the cast and gets the perspective from them to give to the audience to give the audience an idea as to what the film will be like.
Also available is a written review of the film from the presenter describing who it would appeal to and what kind of story the film turns into.
For Harry Brown, Jonathan Ross reviews the film from a professional point of view in the TV industry and compares the film to that of previous films and gives honest and blunt answers to how he feels the film is presented. He comments on Micheal Caine's performance in the film and also the directional performance of Daniel Barber.

Movie NewsMovie Trailers.com

The website consists of a institution distribution photo to promote the film, an in depth review of the film with the author’s opinions, from who would enjoy it to how the author enjoyed the film and whether or not it is a must see and what the overal feel for the film is.
Along with the review is the trailer of the film, so the audience can see themselves what they are in store for and at the bottom of the page is a comment box for the audience to air their views on the film and either agree or disagree with the author.
